Excellent stay, great service
cozy common area honesty bar river view complimentary port
I thought the common areas had a cozy feel. The hotel library included a balcony with a river view. The honesty bar was a great addition, it allowed to relax. I also appreciated complimentary port in the room.
The soundproofing was limited, noises from the street were audible.

Breakfast included a wide selection of choices. I found the Portuguese tarts quite wonderful. Complimentary hot drinks were available all day in multiple locations.

The staff was friendly and very helpful with all requests. They responded quickly to questions with a smile. The reception desk provided assistance with various needs.

thin walls uncomfortable bed
The walls seemed paper thin and street noise was excessive. It reminded me of the cars were right in the room! the bed was old and uncomfortable. the breakfast was simple.

complimentary tea molton brown toiletries port decanter
i appreciated the complimentary tea, coffee, and pastries throughout the day. molton brown toiletries were in the bathroom and they were lovely. the port decanter in my room was a nice touch, i enjoyed it very much.
the elevator were very small and cramped when i had my suitcases.

mixed feelings on this stay
thin walls nonexistent air conditioning
The breakfast was acceptable. It filled the stomach each morning.
The walls seemed paper-thin. I could hear other guests opening and closing doors at all hours, this made sleeping difficult. also, the air conditioning in the bathroom was nonexistent. It felt stuffy and uncomfortable. i found that odd, given the price i paid per night.

breakfast buffet molton brown products port decanter late check-in abandoned building junior suite
the breakfast buffet was really good. molton brown products were available in the bathroom. a decanter of port (it was complimentary!) sat in the bedroom.
the staff allowed me to leave my bags but i could not check in until 3pm. i booked the room for a junior suite. the view was a spray painted abandoned building.

The breakfast offered a good variety and tasted fresh. The library room on the top floor was nice.
The common areas seemed worn. The hotel is a historic hotel, but it needs a refresh in my opinion.
